Privacy policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026. skiptv is made by Martijn Klomp, an independent developer in the Netherlands. Questions about privacy: skiptv@bitma.nl. This is a translation; if it differs from the Dutch version, the Dutch version applies.
In short
- skiptv has no account of its own and no servers of its own.
- What you watch, your playlists and your settings are stored on your device and in your own iCloud. We have no access to them.
- The app contains no ads and no tracking.
1. What is stored on your device
Your playlist's catalogue and TV guide, your watch progress, favourites, reminders, downloads and fetched subtitles are stored locally on your device. Searching and filtering happen on the device itself.
2. What syncs via iCloud
If you use iCloud, skiptv syncs via your own iCloud account: favourites, watch progress, recently watched channels, profiles (name and any photo), hidden and locked categories, your PIN, preferred languages, reminders, playlists with sign-in details, and your details for TMDB, OpenSubtitles and ChatGPT. This data is stored by Apple, in your account. We have no access to it.
3. Which services the app connects to
skiptv only connects to services needed for a feature you use:
- Your provider. To fetch the catalogue, the TV guide and streams, the app sends your sign-in details to the server of the playlist you added yourself. Your provider sees your IP address and what you play.
- TMDB. Using your own key, the app looks up titles from your catalogue for artwork, ratings, cast and recommendations. TMDB receives the titles and your IP address.
- OpenSubtitles. Using your own account, the app searches for subtitles for the title you are watching.
- ChatGPT by OpenAI. Only if you link your ChatGPT account. The app sends your search sentence or your question to Skip. Titles from your catalogue are only included if you allow it in the settings; otherwise your catalogue stays on the device. For questions while watching, what you are watching and how far along you are are included.
- TheIntroDB. To look up where the intro of an episode is.
- YouTube. Only when you press Trailer yourself; the trailer opens outside skiptv.
- Apple. For iCloud, notifications and the App Store.
The privacy policy of each of these services applies to that service.
4. Incognito and PIN
With Incognito, skiptv does not save what you watch on that device in Continue watching or Recently watched. Your provider can still see what you play. The PIN shields categories within the app; it does not encrypt your data.
5. What we collect
Through the app: nothing. If you email us, we keep your message and email address for as long as needed to reply. Apple may give us anonymous data about downloads and crashes if you have allowed this on your device.
6. This website
This website is hosted by Netlify. The skiptv pages set no cookies, load nothing from other websites and keep no statistics. Like any web host, Netlify briefly processes your IP address to serve the page.
7. Deleting your data
Delete the app to remove everything from your device. To delete the data in iCloud, go to Settings, your name, iCloud, Manage Storage, skiptv. For data held by your provider, TMDB, OpenSubtitles or OpenAI, go to that service.
8. Your rights
You have the right to know what data we hold about you and to have it corrected or deleted. Email skiptv@bitma.nl. If you disagree with our answer, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
9. Changes
If the app or this policy changes, the latest version will be on this page, with the date.
